Really great to see all these ideas on changing the perception of mining! We recently participated in a similar challenge at the Move Mining Competition in 2019 at the SME Annual Conference and Expo, and our idea at Mine2Me was to transform the public's perception of mining through engaging animated infographic videos. Specifically, we promote the importance of mining to our every day lives, the technological advancements of the industry and environmental conservation efforts made. Long story short, we won the competition and got a $5,000 grant and the sponsorship of Komatsu. Historically, the mining industry has not done a great job relaying to the public about the importance of mining and the benefits it brings. We hope that through our videos, we can move the needle, even if it's just ever so slightly, in a positive direction. Any support (subscriptions/shares/likes) will be greatly appreciated!

What happens when the trucks are taking away the Material faster than the digger can load the hopper, the trucks then have to wait the same as it the digger was loading them direct, don’t see the point of all the extra expense of the hopper.

Bougainville 1977, P&H shovells loading massive boulders intoa fleet of 45, Euclid R170 haultrucks, this would have made hauling more efficient. Total haulage for the year was 72million tons, 34 million tonnes into the pit crusher, for the mill crushers and stockpiles. How technology has moved on in 40 years.

Clever stuff but realize my passion for mining means I was born 150 years too late. This machine alone means hundreds of jobs gone too.

For stockpile and mined volumes I get less than 1% divergence with UAV photogrammetry in comparison with Lidar with a fraction of the cost. Only a very specific niche really needs Lidar. Most operations can work well with a Day-1 information delay on stocks and mined benches for adjustment once every week or so. I mean adjustment because the dispatch is keeping track of these volumes in the mean time, so no worries.
